Shillong, Oct 25: With a view to facilitating the public consultation process on the draft “Meghalaya Regulation of Landlords and Verification of Tenants Bill” and in order to ensure that all sections of the society are provided with adequate opportunity to participate in the consultations, the State Government has decided to hold the consultations separately with traditional institutions, teachers, academicians, civil society groups, intelligentsia, youth and students, in all the 11 (eleven) districts of the State on dates to be fixed by the Deputy Commissioners.
The State Government has also notified the constitution of a Ministerial Committee to be headed by Shri P.Tynsong, Minister, Community & Rural Development with Shri Clement R. Marak, Minister, Power, Dr M. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Minister, Urban Affairs, Shri R.V.Lyngdoh, MLA, Shri Kennedy Khyriem, Parliamentary Secretary, Shri Justine Dkhar, Parliamentary Secretary and Shri Cherak W.Momin, Parliamentary Secretary as members, to participate in the Public Consultation Process.
Members of the public are requested to participate actively in the consultations on dates to be notified by the respective Deputy Commissioners of the concerned districts to ensure the crystallization of a legislation which can effectively contain the problem of influx in the State.
The Public Consultation Process will be launched by the Hon’ble Chief Minister in a function to be held in the Yojana Bhavan Auditorium on the 1st November, 2013.(SP News)
