Shillong Dec 6: In its efforts to sought governments intervention for setting up a full-fledged Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) Cell at Williamnagar in East Garo Hills district, the Garo Students union (GSU) East Zone met the Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills to discuss on the issue.
GSU East Zone general secretary Rockey FM Sangma on Thursday informed that the GSU has submitted a memorandum to the DC apprising him of the need to set up the MPSC cell in Williamnagar by stating that the headquarter of East Garo Hills has completed 26 years as a town but till date, it remains without an MPSC Cell.
“More than 50 percent of aspirant candidates after completing graduation are discouraged to go to the capital city to pay the admission and examination fees owing to their financial problems. This is a setback for the students of this district, they cannot spend money on long journey to Shillong or Tura MPSC every now and then”, Sangma said. Meanewhile, the GSU sought an immediate intervention in this regard.(SP News)
