Shillong, May 28: H Elias HS School lifted both the Under 13 and Under 16 Fr. KV George Memorial Inter School Football 2014 trophies on Wednesday. While the Under 16 team defeated Divine Saviour HS School, the Under 13 team beat St Anthony’s HS School ‘C’ team in exhilarating finals played at the school football ground.
The chief guest on the occasion was Shillong Press Club President, David Laitphlang while Royal Wahingdoh Football Club Managing Director, Dominic S Tariang was the Guest of Honour. Other who witnessed the finals and distributed medals and trophies besides Laitphlang and Tariang included MPCC General Secretary, James Lyngdoh and St Anthony’s HS School Principal, Fr. Bernard Pala.
This is the 14th year of the ever popular inter school football tournament instituted by St Anthony’s HS School in fond memory of a doyen of sports in the State under whose stewardship as Headmaster, the school won the first ever Subroto Cup in 1978. (SP News)
