Shillong November 29: The bookies association of Meghalaya under the banner of the Hynniewtrep Archery Bookies Social and Cultural Association (HABSCA) expressed their discontenment over the huge manipulation of the stewards who are responsible to operate the archery for the teer bussiness in the state
irked over the huge manipulation by the stewards who were getting paid from wealthy bookies and were involved in the making of numbers, HABSCA Secretary Dennis Lyngdoh while addressing a press conference on Thursday said that the association cannot accept such irregularities as it disrupts the whole functioning of the system in the teer business.
“The stewards were paid by wealthy bookies to manipulate the business during archery by involved them in the making of numbers”, Lyngdoh said.
He also mentioned that earlier such making in numbers were done by the organisers that is the Khasi Hills Archery sports institute (KHASI) but at present the making of numbers was done by some wealthy people.
There were 2635 licenced teer counters in the state and around 208 teer counters having NOC from the Dorbar shnong was operating in the capital city, Lyngdoh said adding that there were some people who dare to operate the teer counters without getting NOC from the Dorbar shnong Lyngdoh said adding that how is it possible that such counters can operate without any NOC.
While alleging that the department concerned is not looking into the matter Lyngdoh said that the department is always ready to collect the taxes from the counter but would not look into the concerns faced by them.
Meanwhile, Lyngdoh also informed that the association has lodged a complaint to the deputy commissioner, east khasi hills to take measures in this regard. (SP News)
