Shillong, Feb 25: Class VIII student of Army Public School, Happy Valley Shillong is now ranked as India’s No1 in compound Bow Archery of under 17yrs girls category in the recently concluded National Ranking Archery Tournament held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi from 12 Feb to 16 Feb 2014.
Parvati Nair was representing Meghalaya in the tournament. She was awarded with a cash award of Rs 10,000/- by Archery Association of India for her feat.
This girl also participated in the under 22yrs girls (junior) category and stood second and was awarded with a cash award of Rs 12000/-. In the senior category Parvati stood 10th in her ranking. Parvati Nair and is trained under the aegis of 58 Gorkha Training Centre, Happy Valley, Shillong.
The Archery Node at GTC has been providing all guidance and coaching to the young archer. Meghalaya’s name has been placed at high pedestals by her achievements. She has won many tournaments in a short span of only seven months.(SP News)
