Tura, Feb 25: A school headmaster in remote village of West Garo Hills
in Meghalaya has sought police intervention to arrest the accused, who
had attacked him recently. He has made an appeal to Shillong bench of
Gauhati High Court to quash the school managing committee, which he
alleged was formed illegally.
The headmaster of Konarchar Girl UP School, about 50 km from here was
brutally abused by miscreants on February 21 as he had challenged the
formation of a school managing committee.
Headmaster Samiul Islam has filed an FIR with Garobadha investigation
centre. He has named Abdul Mozid Sheik, Gazibur Rahman, Razanur
Rahman, Rofiqul Islam, Rehena Begum, Rezabul Sheik, Enamul Hoque and
Morzina Khatun for engineering the attack. All are members of the
newly formed school committee.
Islam said, “The accused not only assaulted me but made an attempt to
murder. They were carrying sharp weapons with them. If the locals did
not intervene, I would have been killed”.
He informed that the school already has a managing committee, which is
headed by him. However, a group led by Abdul Mozid Sheik constituted a
committee, which is ‘illegal’.
The Shillong bench of Gauhati High Court hearing the plea of the
headmaster has passed an order that the salary for the teacher be
disbursed from the school.
The headmaster also told that the accused are now threatening him of
dire consequence.
Police is investigating the matter. The new committee could not be
contacted for any comment.(SP News)
