Shillong, Dec 04: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya Dr Mukul Sangma today write a DO letter to the prime minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh reminded the prime minister about the memorandum submitted earlier for consideration.
In the letter the chief minister said that “I have submitted a memorandum for a special package for the State of Meghalaya. I am once again attaching the copy of the same and wouldrequire your personal attention in bringing special package a reality and help Meghalaya catch up with the rest of the country”.
Dr Sangma thanks the prime minister for the upgradation of road service from Srirampur West Bengal to Nongstoin in Meghalaya at NH 127 (B) via Dhubri (Assam). This NH has a potential to transform the socio economic landscape of the whole region and asked for the immediate implementation of this extremely important project.
There is an urgent need to take up rail connectivity from Agia toBadarpur in Assam via Meghalaya along the Indo-Bangladesh Border, as this is an area which is rich in minerals besides connecting Barak Valley (Assam), Tripura, Mizoram and all the Land custom Stations andaccelerate trade and commerce with neighbouring countries in the truespirit of Look East Policy the Chief Minister request that this project be taken up as a National project.
