Shillong, May 05: The central command of the band out fit the HNLC strongly condemns the arrest of HANM leader Lamphrang Kharbani along with others who were arrested by the SWAT team on the 2nd of may 2014. The allegations made by the police
department are totally baseless and has no grounds to stand upon. The letterheads recovered were planted by the police and they were the same expired letterheads of the council that were seized on the 21st of Nov 2013 from Jakrem.
In view of the above incident the HNLC demands unconditional release of HANM leader and his accomplices. Further if they are not released immediately, the council hereby announces total shutdown of all the state government offices and departments including the central government commencing from the 8th,9th,12th and 13th respectively.
The council also issue warnings to all government officials to respect the decision of the HNLC. Anybody going against the council orders will do it at their own risk. Said Saiñkupar Nongtraw Publicity Secretary, HNLC.
This is a ploy of the police to defame the HANM leader in order to create misunderstanding among the organisation members.This is nothing but sheer harassment that has time and again taken place in the form of arrests.
Why would a pressure group leader purposedly carry letterheads of the HNLC when he had pending cases and was under the surveillance of the Police department? (SP News)
