Shillong, Sepe,16: In view of the hunger strike, public rally, procession, bandh,night Eoad blockade etc., called by some organizations, the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District has promulgated an Order under Section 144 CrPC in the entire District, prohibiting assembly of 5 or more persons with a view to hold the above agitations, prohibiting any person or group of persons from obstructing vehicular movement and carrying of arms and any other lethal weapons or any other itedmaterial having the potential to be used as a weapon which can likely cause grievous injury or ham to any person or persons. However, this Order shall not be applicable to the Security Forces and government oficers on duty.
This Order has been enforced in view of the present law and order situation in the District whereby holding of such agitations could cause obstruction and annoyance to thegeneral public and may result in disturbance of the public trarlquility or a riot or any affrayunless immediately prevented. This Order comes into immediate effect and shall remain in force until furthqr orders.(SP News)
