Shillong, July 24, 2013: The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, has promulgated an Order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting any person or group of persons from taking out
rally procession within 500 metres radius of the Meghalaya Secretariat Budding, carrying of arms and other lethal weapons or any item and material having the potential to be used as weapon which can likely cause grievous injury or harm to any person.
The Order was imposed after receiving information that some organizations are planning to hold a public rally and procession to the Meghalaya Secretariat Building, which, if allowed, will cause obstruction, annoyance to the general public and may result in disturbance of the public tranquility or a riot or any affray.
This Order comes into immediate effect and shall remain in force until further orders.(SP News)
