SHILLONG, June 15: Alternative rock band Hoobastank is to perform in Shillong to mark the 6th anniversary celebration of city-based magazine TNT-The Northeast Today, which primarily covers current affairs, politics, lifestyle and music.
The magazine was founded by the scion of the Tripura royal family, Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Burman in 2007. The American alternative rockers will be seen playing at the 5th Field, Polo Ground in the city on the 29th of June. The band, best known for its hit single “The Reason” which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts 2004 and No. 1 on the US and World Modern Rock charts, will be on their maiden Indian visit with their current line-up consisting of vocalist Doug Robb, guitarist Dan Estrin, drummer Chris Hesse and bassist Josh Moreau. The band is reaching India on June 27.
Announcing the news via their social networking pages, Event Head, Sumita Jana has notified us that the tickets are being priced at 500 INR. Editor-in-chief Pradyot Bikram Manikya says, “We have always maintained that music and Rock and Roll remains a strong aspect in our magazine and day to day lives, hence, this is the best way to celebrate our 6th anniversary.” He further added that certain proceeds of the show will go to the Maichang School project for the underprivileged.
Tickets to the show will be available at select outlets in the entire North-eastern region of India. Apart from that, free tickets can also be won everyday by answering to the daily questions posted on the magazine’s Facebook page. Tickets will also be available at select Aircel outlets all over the region.(SP News)
