HTCWO will organised an open to all individual singing competition

Shillong Dec 3: Aimed at enriching and preserving the identity and culture of the Khasi, the Hynniewtrep Cultural and Welfare Organisation (HTCWO)  will organised an open to all individual singing competition starting with the preliminary round on January next year.

Addressing a press conference in the city here on Monday HTCWO Vice President TR Shanpru informed that the organization aimed at tapping the hidden talents much prevalent amongst the people of the state.

“ Lots of talents are present amongst the Khasi and Jaintia people but most of them shy away to come forward and participate at any competition”, Shanpru said adding that the organisation do hoped that the competition that will take place will attract the artists.

Further elaborating on the participation criteria Shanpru informed that any interested participants can get their forms at rupees 50 each available at the office of the HTCWO, Mahari and Sons and also from HMG office Basan building 2nd floor near jeev’s Laitumkhrah from tomorrow onwards and the last date of submission of the entry forms will be on December 22.

Shanpru also informed that there will be only one winner from amongst the female and one from male whereby the winners will be awarded a trophy, certificate and a prize money of rs 25,000 but shanpru also informed that if the organization get support they will increase the prize money.  He also said that prizes will also be given to the best musician.

Besides, he also informed that the winner will get a chance to showcase his or her talent at the annual singing platform  called the “Batemon U Hynniewtrep”.

The competition will begin with a preliminary round on January next year and the final round will be held on the month of february but the date of the competition will be notified later.

Meanwhile, Shanpru said that that the organization aimed at spreading the message to the people through songs on the importance of protecting and preserving our own culture and tradition.(SP News)
