| Shillong, April 29: Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Shri Sudesh Kumar, IPS in his address to the gathering, welcomed all the headmans/ secretaries and other villagers and informed that BSF is deployed on border for security of people and to promote safe, secure and prosperous border.
IG asked border population to come forward with the valuable ideas which can be implemented for better border management and also for betterment of living standard of border population. He urged border population to share information about any stranger/unknown person visiting their villages and smugglers, militants etc. He asked villagers to project their problems so that same can be resolved or projected with State administration. He also informed that on the initiative of BSF, Special Recruitment drive for recruitment in BSF will be undertaken all over the Meghalaya state in the Bordering areas in Tura, Shillong and Jowai. In order to prepare candidates for recruitment, BSF will conduct pre-recruitment training at Mahadev (South Garo Hills) for preparing the youths in physical efficiency test as well as in the written examination. He also informed that BSF will also provide some refreshment free of cost to the candidates attending the training. The pre recruitment training has already started from 22nd April 2013 and will continue till 21st May 2013.The process of recruitment will start from 27th May 2013. The items that was distributed in this Civic Action Programmes in the border area of Rongra of South Garo Hills of Meghalaya are,Powers Tiller, Syntax tank, Sports items, Stationery / education material, Sewing Machine, Gum boot, Umbrella, Torch light & Tarpaulin, Chair plastic ,Water Pump with Pip, Colour TV with DTH , Water Filter. While handing over key of Power Tiller to villagers, IG, BSF described “this as a key to prosperity as it will help in improving the agriculture yield.” It is pertinent to mention here that last year also one Power Tiller was given in the same area, however it was given to other village and similarly in future another village will be given the power tiller. IG emphasized that the villagers having land ahead of border fencing should cultivate their land and assured that BSF will give the security cover and the gate timings will be adjusted as per the convenience of the farmers going ahead of the fence. The items presented for the up-gradation of school infrastructure will have lasting results as children are the future of the country. It may be mentioned that Sh Sudesh Kumar, IPS, IG has started the system of personally visiting the border areas to ascertain their requirement and items are distributed accordingly. This is the second consecutive year when under the leadership of Shri Sudesh Kumar, IPS, IG BSF, Meghalaya Ftr, the Power tillers and other items, which will have the lasting impact on the lives of the border villagers, were handed over to the villagers of the border villages. It has always been the endeavor of Border Security Force to help the border population and enable them to lead a prosperous life. Following the trend, this year also BSF is organizing the Civic Action Programme for the under-privileged border population residing in far-flung areas. It may be mentioned that during this year BSF is spending Rs. 50 Lakhs in the State of Meghalaya, for uplifting the economic activities, cultivation, education, health, and various other facilities in the border areas.(SP News)
