If ILP is not possible, then Meghalaya should be given special status: Latiplang

Shillong, Dec 06: The member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, Mr Latiplang Kharkongor said that if Inner Line Permit is not possible to implement in the state of Meghalaya, then the central government should give a special status like what they have given to the Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to media person Mr Kharkongor said that base on the statement of the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, it appears that the central government is not willing to implement  ILP in the state of Meghalaya, if that was true then the government of India should gave special status to the state of Meghalaya.

The MDC from Malki-Nongthymmai said that ILP is already exist in the state of Meghalaya it not required to seek the permission from the GOI but it need only state government notification to implement ILP.

The indigenous tribal of Meghalaya need protection so that they will not be swam away by others big community in the near future. The people of the state demanded that ILP is the only solution to get protection, said Mr Kharkongor.(SP News)
