Shillong, March 21: The teachers association under the banner of the Khasi jaintia deficit School teachers association (KJDSTA) along with the garo hills deficit school teachers and employees association (GHDSTEA) was strongly against the statement made the the education minister Prof RC Laloo at the ongoing assembly session stating that the delay in disbursing of salaries to the deficit teachers is due to the non submission of the utilization certificate (UC’s) by the school.
Reacting strongly against the statement made by the Education minister Prof RC Laloo in the floor of the house, president of the KJDSTA ED Nongsiang said that the statement made by the education minister is not true to the fact as each and every school in the state submitted the UC’s on a quarterly basis.
“Official sources from the education informed that the delayed in disbursment of salaries is due to unavailability of funds from the government and not because of non submission of UC’s, ”Nongsiang said.
Stating that whatever the minister said in the floor of the house is false and baseless, Nongsiang said no matter what kind of developmennt the government is talking about nothing will work out if the government cannot give priorities to the education in the state.
On the other hand Nongsiang informed that the teachers association in the state cannot accept the statement made by the Education Minister.
“We cannot accept his statement instead we demanded to clear all pending salary,” Nongsiang said.
He also mentioned that teachers of deficit and adhoc have not received their salaries since the month of December.
Serving a deadline of March 26 to clear all pending salaries Nongsiang said “We demanded that the government should clear all pending salaries within the stipulated date,” adding that if the demand were not met the teacher’s association will take their own course of action.
Mentioning the course of action Nongsiang informed that the action committee of the teachers association have decided to boycott correction of papers even as they will also call back those teachers who have already left to do the correction of SSLC papers. (SP News)
