Shillong, Nov 12: With large number of youth are under employment in the state, the Government under the National Skill development programme aims at harnessing the potentials of the youth and provide them adequate education on various skill development works.
In next six months the state Government aimed at providing jobs to over 2000 educated unemployed youths across the state.
Various programmes under this scheme including, relationship management, Customer service, grooming and lifestyle, hospitality, banking sector training, financial service insurance etc are targeted by the state Government where the youths will be provided training which even has the placement.
For the first batch Government is targeting around 2800 youth. Meghalaya labour minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said, “The government is sanctioning five crores of rupees from the state plan for the implementation of the programme aimed at providing job opportunities to 2800 youths in the state.”
The minister however, informed that the state has signed MOUs with ten companies based in Guwahati, Pune, Kolkata, Bangalore and Delhi who will absorb youths who are trained in 47 different trades that suit their interests and skills.
Stating that the identified companies have been instructed to impart trainings at the block level in the state ensuring its reach to the grassroot level, Lyngdoh said, “The first batch would commence from January next year and complete the course by June.”
These companies are Six Sigma Educom, Lachumiere, ETPL (India) Skills Development, Shillong, Orion Edutech Pvt Ltd Kolkata, IL&FS Education Technology Service Ltd, Noida, NYDA Nongkrem, Avenues Shillong, Gazelle Information Technology Pvt Ltd, Edubridge Learning Pvt Ltd Mumbai, HP Institute of Insurance Guwahati and Darpan, Guwahati.
Admitting that Meghalaya faces a growing unemployment problem, the Minister said that the state is facing problem because of under employment since there are many drop outs who could not be fit in any sector.
Therefore, Meghalaya government has decided to sanction five crores rupees for implementation of the programme.(SP News)
