India is no more in 1962 syndrome, the country is prepared to meet any challenge

Shillong, Dec 12: Talking strong about possible Chines threat in the counPicture 053try, Indian Air Force chief N.A.K. Browne on his farewell visit to Eastern Air Command in Shillong said Indian Air Force is not in 1962 syndrome anymore as Indian Air Force is well prepared to meet any challenges that comes to its forefront even as he added that every country has the right to develop itself.

The Indian Air Force chief said, “The country is very well prepared in all aspects. When we prepare ourselves we don’t look at any specific country or the threat that you mention. We want to look at the defence of the country and the Air Force specifically across broad parameters.”

India is taking note of defence developments in its neighbourhood, and is in a state of preparedness to ruin the evil designs and threats, Indian Air Force chief N.A.K. Browne said in Shillong.

“We certainly take note of each and every thing that is happening in our neighbourhood, but as I said, development is not targeted against one single country. Every country has the right to prepare itself. So does China, so do we,” Browne told journalists in Shillong

Browne was on a farewell visit to the Eastern Air Command headquarters in Meghalaya. During his visit to Shillong, Browne said, “We are  very well prepared in all aspects and when the country is prepared it need not look at any specific country or the threat.”

“Our planning is based on certain capabilities.  But our development is not just targeted within the country. We should be able to broadly meet the challenges that are going to defacing us now and also in future. It is an ongoing process.”

Asserting that the IAF had embarked on a major modernisation plan in the northeast, Browne said its major acquisitions and upgradations would give the air force a set of capabilities for meeting all perceived threats head-on.

Moreover, he said the IAF would soon replace the old radars with modern ones to enhance its air defence capabilities over the eastern skies.

“North east is an important area for us and our Aar defence is constantly in a stage of improvement and this thing do take time. We have planned mountain radars for hilly areas and hilly terrain which is actually is an indigenous project that is very much on,” Browne said.

“It is not just one particular radar but it is a series of system which one has to make sure that the air defence is absolutely in good. It is a question of communication system, it’s a question of radar, it is also a question of missile system so all that is in the process,” he said.

India and China fought a bitter border war in 1962, with Chinese troops advancing deep into what was then called the North East Frontier Agency (NEFA) and inflicting heavy casualties on Indian troops.(SP News)
