Infrastructure development in the NE Region

 

Shillong, July 2: In the North Eastern Region, about 81 infrastructure projects, with an estimated cost of Rs.908.32 crore were sanctioned and Rs.775.00 crore were released under the NLCPR scheme during 2012-13 by the Govt. of India. Besides, about 55 projects involving Rs. 471 crore were completed during this period.

The North Eastern Council has sanctioned 31 projects under the agriculture and allied sector, 8 new schemes under the power, 9 projects under industry, 11 projects under tourism and 18 projects under science & technology. NEC completed the construction of 237 kms of roads, 11 schemes under power sector and 6 schemes under agriculture and allied sector. The NLCPR Central Scheme was introduced from the year 2012-13.

In collaboration with the Airports Authority of India, NEC has taken up the infrastructure upgradation works in five airports namely, Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Imphal and Shillong (Umroi) in the NE Region.(SP News)
