International Women’s Day Celebrated by the BSF

BSF Womens Day1Shillong, March 09:Border Security Force celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2013. The celebrations were marked by various activities conducted at the BSF Frontier HQrs, Shillong and other BSF locations in Meghalaya. This year international theme of women day is ”A Promise is a promise, time for Action to end the violence against the women”.

A camp for Common Dental problems and maintaining good oral hygiene was organized on 6th&7th March 2013 where more than 2000 females dental health was checked up. Besides, following events having direct relation and bearing to the BSF and women were also organized as part of the celebrations.

Mehandi competition, General Knowledge Quiz Competition, Hair-styling Competition, Rangoli Competition,Games .On 8th March 2013, a colourful cultural programme  was  organized by BSF under the aegis of BWWA (BSF wives’ Welfare Organization) at BSF campus Mawpat, Shillong, under the guidance of  Dr. Prema Gandhi President, BWWA.

The Focus of the programme was to promote the benefits that the women bring into this world, the various roles women play in this world. The achievements of women and the importance of women in today’s society was also showcased, while addressing the ladies, the president BWWA told that today women are marching ahead in every field along with men. Further each female has unique talent, therefore they must exhibit their talent as BWWA offers a unique platform to show case the talent.

She also appealed BWWA members to look after their families, children and must make them responsible Citizen. The role of women in BSF is much more responsible as their husband remain deployed on far flung areas of border. A colourful presentation was given by the ladies on “Journey of life”. The various roles played by women, like daughter, wife, mother, sister.(SP News)
