Shillong, Septe 5: Meghalaya Information Technology Minister, Mr. A.L. Hek today inaugurated the computer lab while Mr. N. A. War, Local MDC and Executive Member, Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, inaugurated two additional class rooms of Nongmensong Presbyterian L.P. and U.P. School, Shillong at a function held at the school premises in the presence of members of the School Managing Committee, teachers, students and local people.
Speaking as Chief Guest, Mr. Hek said that the government is keen in the upliftment of education particularly in the field of information technology. Appealing to the students to learn and take computer subject seriously in school, Mr. Hek said that this will enable them to keep themselves abreast on latest technology, particularly computer science and to be more efficient and competitive in the today’s world where computer dominate all spheres of life.
It may be mentioned that computers which includes 7 desktop computers, 4 Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and one each of laser and dot matrix printers installed in the computer lab of the school were sanctioned by the Information Technology Department, Government of Meghalaya under the North Eastern Council Scheme “IT Education Programme in Meghalaya” during the year 2011-12.(SP News)
