Jowai –Mawlibor Road by June end NHAI will take over the road from state PWD

Shillong, May 24: Thought the government of India ha published in the gazette on the 14th August 2012 that the Road from 69.200km of the NH-44 from Jowai to 173.200km in Assam all remain in paper only since National Highway Authority of India is yet to take over the road from the state Public Work Department.

The Project Director  of NHAI while informing  about the delay in taking over the road from the state PWD, said that there are some technical work  is yet to be  completed, and the most important criteria is the environmental clearance has to obtain.

The survey work is in progress both the team from the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council, Forest Department government of Meghalaya and the official from NHAI. The survey work is yet tobe completed.

Other technical work is the Row work financial bit, once these are completed by the month of June next, then by the end of the month NHAI will take over the road.

NHAI is very much aware about the road condition of that area, but due to certain technical obligation they cannot just take over the road from the state PWD. Once they take over the road then they will prepare the scheme for  complete strengthening the entire stretched  of the road.(SP News)
