The KHADC on the 30th October 2012, issued a detail order in the reinstatatement of Basan Emerson Thangkhiew as the Basan of Nongkseh (Order enclosed) after it had earlier quashed and set aside the appointment (sanad) of Livingstone Thangkhiew vide order No.DC.XXVII/Genl/67/2012/25 dated 16th October 2012. The KHADC in its judgement termed the action of the Syiem Mylliem in removing Basan Emerson Thangkhiew as Illegal as he had been wrongly accused of being incompetent due to his old age.Further in its judgement the court stated and upheld the contention of the existing custom in which the Basan must be a resident of the Raid Sawkur Nongkseh and a Basan must be elected by the Dorbar Kur. It may be worth mentioning here that Livingstone Thangkhiew who had been appointed illegally as Basan of Nongkseh for a period of few months, is neither a resident of the Raid nor he was elected by the Dorbar Kur. Also the Court observed that the organisation known as the Seng Kur Thangkhiew Laikpoh under its president livingstone Thangkhiew which had been earlier derecognised by the Executive Committee of the KHADC Vide Order No.DC.XXVII/Genl/4/2011-12/10 dated 11th October 2012 is not a registered body nor recognized under law and on this count alone the Syiem Mylliem should not have entertained and acted on the complaint as the Dorbar Kur under the Rangbah Kur is the apex body to look into the affairs of the entire Clan or Kur.
The Dorbar Kur once again expressed its gratefulness to the Executive Member i/c Ilaka and the Executive Committee of the KHADC for its free, fair and prompt Judgement in the matter of Political appeal by Basan Emerson Thangkhiew of Nongkseh and the derecognition of the so called “Seng Kur Thangkhiew Lai Kpoh”.
Further the Executive Committe of the Dorbar Kur Thangkhiew Lai Kpoh informed that as being done every year, Basan EmersonThangkhiew along with his rams and ropes had geared up for the Nongkrem Festival after receiving the “Kyrwoh” (Invitation made of Sacred Bamboo Strip) from the Dhulia (Chief Musician) of the Syiem (King) of Hima Khyrim. Basan Emerson Thangkhiew and the Executive Committee of the Dorbar Kur Thangkhiew Lai Kpoh extend its warm welcome and invitation to all
the Members of the Thangkhiew Clan to witness the “Shad Nongkrem Festival” on the 2nd & 3rd November 2012. Free Buses are being provided by the Executive Committe of the Dorbar Kur.
