Khasi film Awards will institute to promote film industry in the state

Shillong Nov 30: Aiming at promoting local film makers from the state as well as to recognize and honour their skills and efforts in making film, the association of the Khasi film Awards will institute the first ever Khasi film awards with its first edition on the beginning of 2013 which will also be the first of its kinds in the history of Khasi film.

Highlighting on the criteria of the award secretary from the association of the Khasi film award wankitbok Pohshna said said that all films released upto April 2012 publically exhibited at the theaters or in DVD/VCD will be eligible to apply for nomination adding that the awards will be categorized into various fields that the award will be presented to all films for Best khasi film, best director, best male actor, best female actor, best supporting female, best cinematography, best editor, best sound design, best music director,best lyrics, best story, best lightings and SFX, Best playback male, best playback female, best pnar film, best director from pnar and lifetime achievement award in performing arts.

Further elaborating on the nomination process, Pohshna said only for films released before April 31, 2012 entry will be accepted from producers, directors, production houses and marketing houses who are required to submit their nomination forms by December 15. Besides form can be acquire from Virgo shop in Iewduh and Dolly Music in Khyndai Lad and entry will also be accepted online at our official website—www.khasifilmsawards.org.

In this regard, the members of the Khasi films awards committee (KFAC) had approached the state arts and culture department for support and the response is yet to be received. “We had also approached the state government on several occasions but till date, the government is adamant to our proposal”, KFAC GS said.

He also pointed out that with the help of the government; there could be ample opportunities for the youth of the state as it is known that the film industry does generate employment to a great extent. “If only, the government could provide us with a studio then it would be helpful and less expensive for film makers”, he stated.(SP News)
