Shillong, March 2:Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement, KHNAM will continue its struggle towards the progress of the citizens of Meghalaya even as KHNAM lost all the four seats it contested from in the 2013 assembly polls.
Addressing reporters at a press conference held at Shillong Press Club, general secretary of KHNAM Adelbert Nongrum, said,’ KHNAM is not just a political party but also a political movement and we will continue to work for our people.”
Holding the low turn out of people especially (tribals) responsible for KHNAM losing out on the seat in North Shillong constituency, Nongrum said, “ KHNAM’s defeat in North shillong constituency was contributed to by the low turn out of tribal voters beside other factors.”
Endorsing the same view KHNAM vice president, Batkupar Wahlang said that the failure of the voters (tribal) to come out to vote only shows that they shy away from their own responsibility as citizens.(SP News)
