Shillong Sept 24: Even as the state is going through bad times due to the pressure put on the government by the different NGOs on the implementation of the Inner Permit Line (ILP), the Students of the Kiang Nangbah Govt. College, Jowai, under the Kiang Nangbah Govt. College Students Union, has come up with their demands for better infrastructure in their particular institute.
In a press conference held today at the Shillong Press Club the students reiterated their demands for better facilities in their college for which they have been demanding for the past 6 years.
T Ram Phawa, the vice president of the Union said, “We youth deserve every opportunity especially education, to get the best facilities that the government can provide as this college is the only government college in Jowai.”
Some of the demands made by students are the extension of college building, sanctioning of new departments, hiring of full-fledged teachers for the morning classes and construction of basketball court.
During the press conference the students also informed that they have sent letters to the minister-in-charge with a list of their demands but so far there has been no response from any of them.(SP News)
