Shillong, Nov 08: Taking a strong note to the brutal killings of the five police personnel in South Garo Hills, Meghalaya Peoples Human Rights Council (MPHRC) has condemned the incident stating that “the killing of the police personnel has undermine the proper functioning and break down of the criminal-justice system, a key requirement in the protection of human rights”.
“The current break down of the law and order situation in Garo Hills speaks volumes about the insecurity and threat that ordinary people feel after the incident. It is the duty of the government to ensure that while maintaining law and order situation adequate security should be provided for the general people at large” said Dino D. G. Dympep, Chairman MPHRC.
The MPHRC has conveyed it deepest condolence to the member of the bereaved families of the police personnel and it called upon the government for a full investigation to ascertain the perpetrators involved behind the killings.(SP News)
