SHILLONG, JULY 31: Beauty over nature. A worker uprooting bush pine and flower plants to replace with a hoarding structure at Kyndailad Rotary. Since the government has handed over the place to the company to maintain it beauty it up to the company decision to act for their best interest.
It may be mentioned that four years ago the Kyndailad Rotary maintenance were given to Dalmia cement company for keeping the area green and the company has done by planting flowers and plants.
But now as the plants have grown giving scenic beauty to Kyndailad, Dalmia sees that it is covering the hoardings of the Company and so those plants covering are being uprooted.
One of the citizens commented, “What is the company trying to say? Is it that the hoardings are more important and not the greeneries?”
As far as the government is concerned, it goes out to say ‘Keep Shillong Green and Clean’ but on the other side companies are given the authority to plant and then uproot it according to their convenience.
This clearly shows that the government and the companies are only into profit making at the cost of destroying the environment and its beauty. Dalmia Company has uprooted more than 13 tress from Police Bazar today.(SP News)
