Large quantity of wood seized by the BSF at Gummaghat, SWK Hills

Shillong, Sept 17: Today base on the specific input regarding smuggling of wooden logs, BSF troops of BOP Gumaghat,  ex-73 Bn deployed in South West Khasi Hills distt of Meghalaya launched a special operation and seized 409.28 CFT of wooden logs worth Rs. 4,09,280/- near BP No 1203/MP.

In an another operation on 13th Sept 2013 on specific input regarding smuggling of a consignment of FICN by Bangladeshi national, BSF troops of BOP Kakargora ex-73 Bn seized FICN of face value Rs 5,000/- in denomination of Rs 100 x 50 near BP No.1211/6-S.

Besides above, during last week, BSF troops of Meghalaya Ftr, also seized Genosedyl, Cattle, Forest produce  and other contraband items of the estimated value Rs 3,50,000/-( three lacs fifty thousand only) while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh. It is pertinent to mention here that it has always been the endeavour of BSF to keep a strict vigil and deny any smuggling of psychotropic substances/ narcotics/alcohol to Bangladesh and in this task BSF is also seeking the help of BGB.

Seized items have been handed over to concerned department for further disposal.(SP News)
