Shillong, April 05: It is shocking to see the letter sent by the Department of District Council Affairs to the three Autonomous District Councils in Meghalaya that the last date for submission of the proposal to the propose amendment to the sixth Schedule end today the 5th April 3013.
Sources told SP News Agency that from the three District council that Meghalaya has not even one submitted any proposal. In the letter sent by the DCA government of Meghalaya said that if they fail to submit their proposal by today it,s presume that they all agreed to the propose amendment prepare by the Government of India.
The question arises weather all the 90 MDC know about the letters sent by the DCA to the respective District Council, do the MDC knows what will happen or there is no communitcationbetween Minister DCA and CEMs of Khasi, Jaintia and Garo ? Not to speak of CEMs being changed by DCA themselves.
What will be the fate of this so called tribal institution. From the details of the letter, a note from the MHA to State Government on 6th December 2012 has till date not been replied due to the busy schedule.
From among the three ADC’s especially the Khasi Hills District Council because as many as 18 to 20 MDCs contested the MLA elections. This is one amendment they should introduce that no person should be allowed to hold both MLA and MDC, or should resign prior to contesting both.
The letter sent by the DCA to the CEM of the KHADC, CEM GHADC and the CEM of the JHADC on the 2th of this month clearly mention that the last date for submission of any proposal that they want to make in the proposed amendment the sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India is today the 5th April 2013.
