Shillong, December 07:With an aimed to reach out to the general public while making the 12th five year plan, the planning commission has moved to social networking site where people share their grievances. In order to dwell further on this a one day lecture on making of India 12th five year plan and how meghalaya can benefit from the plan organized by the Meghalaya institute of governance in collaoration with Indian institute of Management today.
While delivering the lecture, Harsh srivastava, consultant planning commission claimed that the concern of the people in facebook is not to have new power plant or metros or flyovers anything else but they said the existing Government services that has to be delivered can they be delivered consistently without any corruption.
Moving to the social sector, the planning commission in the next five years plan focus on connectivity infrastructure, the thrust of 12th plan will be to ensure better connectivity. Apart from that the focus will also be on agriculture, health, education and other social reform. Pointing that it is easy to sign a deal or MOU but it may be difficult for to be implemented, Srivastava stated that Investment should be made in order to bring profit
Stating that due recognition to the neighbouring countries should be given , the planning commission official said, “Although India is richer, yet whatever work of development is done in many social indicators Bangladesh is ahead of India, whether it is maternal mortality, whether it is mal nutrition or any such issues, there is amazing model of development that Bangladesh has which is now play an important rate with growth rate is rising”
He further asserted that now Bangladesh is attracting lot of investment, “since Bangladesh is Meghalaya’s neighbour, so long time we thought that Bangladesh is taking from us but if now Bangladesh is becoming more productive and wealthier, so the state should find out how they are doing and making profit from it. Can you now also start selling to Bangladesh. The whole challenge is how does a state started increasing its productivity”.
You should try that end of five year the per capita income of Meghalaya should be higher.
“The integrated Basin development and livelihood project is the Meghalaya’s way to ensure their target is met by integrate the working of different Government department,” he said.
Planning commission has taken initiative of reaching to the stakeholder listening to them and asking them. Planning commission think Meghalaya’s attempt is very important as it is paying good attention on what is happening here. Every state comes to planning commission for annual plan allocation, since planning commission is very happy with the Meghalaya’s approach; the plan allocation for Meghalaya has been hiked.(SP News)
