Liquor and currency seized by the BSF at the International border

Shillong, Dec 24: The troops of BSF deployed on International border seized 204 bottles of Indian made foreign liquor from two places in Sonatala and Gausapara. Meanwhile on 20th Dec 2013 at about 1245 hrs, on specific input, BSF party of BOP Bagli deployed in South West Khasi district of Meghalaya apprehended 01 Indian national namely Ramesh Mahato, (Manager of Patacing Marak coal company) aged 27 yrs s/o Rampukar, R/O vill- Dangar Po- Dangar, Ps- Balat Distt- East Khasi Hills (Meghalaya) near the International boundary while infiltrating into Indian territory from Bangladesh. On search/ frisking, Rs. 38,000/- Indian currency and 01 Mobile with 01 BD Gramin SIM were recovered from his possession. During preliminary questioning, he revealed that the above Indian currency is meant for excess coal being carried to Bangladesh by the exporter.

During last week, BSF troops on Meghalaya border seized 604 Btls Liquor, 25 Nos Cattle heads, Forest produce  and other contraband items of the estimated value more than 5 Lacks, while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh.(SP News)
