LJP urge granting of reservation for OBC classes of the people of the state

Shillong, August  19: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), Meghalaya unit urged the National Commission for Backward Classes to grant reservation for OBC classes of the people of the state.

In a letter submitted by the LJP to the National on Monday it was stated that there is a need for grant of reservation for the OBC class resided in the state.

General Secretary LJP, RG Pradhan said that it is a matter of great concern that the backward classes of the state are deprived of their rights for the last six years.

According to the General Secretary it was said “Residents of the state who falls under OBC category are been deprived of their rights conferred by the constitution resulting denial of rights of equality and livelihood,” Pradhan said.

He also said that by 2007, OBC certificate issued by Assam was accepted by the DC of East Khasi Hills district and others, but all of a sudden without any public information the issue of OBC certificates has been stopped.

Pradhan has therefore requested the commission to look into the matter as the people of the state are being deprived of their rights.(SP News)
