Mawlongbna, May 27: “Malongbna Traveler’s Nest” Inaugurated today by the local MLA and MDC Mr PN Syiem.
Mawlongbna Village is blessed with natural resources and tourist spots with pleasant weather located under Mawsynram Constituency in East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya around 70km from shillong.
The Scenic beauty of the place and environment with the available of many beautiful and attractive places like lake with so many under water species, water fall and deposit of fossil etc.
With the initiative to promote this area in tourism sector, in 2002 a group of stake holder of 15 members of Mawlongbna Village formed and named it Mawlongbna Cooperative Society Ltd and register in with of the Department of Meghalaya Cooperative Society in 2003.
Since it’s birthed the society worked had to initiate different scheme from the government to shape the picture of the available fortune of the scenic beauty of the area and as of now the village are ready to welcome and accommodate the tourist be it domestic or international with homely treatment.
With the initiative of this local group, the financial support of the Department of Meghalaya Cooperative Society has becomes the backbone to develop this area in tourism sector. The department funded Rs. 19,00,000/- which is 14 lacs as the share and Rs. 5 lacs as grant. Now this Village has constructed 2 cottages to accommodate tourist and a common dining hut.(SP News)
