Shillong, December 25: In a mass causality incident, more than twenty people sustained injuries when the passenger bus they were travelling on from Krishnai, Assam to Gabil in Meghalaya developed some brake problem and the vehicle drove off towards the side of the road.
The incident happened at Kamagre under Rongram Block, West Garo Hills.The 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based in Rari helped in shifting Galing Momin (50years/male), Jehidul Islam (30years/male), Roreng Marak (35years/female), Ten Marak (35years/male), Geljak Marak (45years/male) and Thaibina Marak (40years/female) to Gabil PHC. Other passenger were shifted by private vehicle to Gabil PHC, after which the 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based in Rari and Tura helped in shifting Galing Momin (50years/male), Ronking M. Sangma (6years/male), Gazolisa A. Sangma (50years/female), Porsen Marak (55years/male), Kenry B. Marak (24years/male) and Tripima Sangma (40years/female) to Tura Civil Hospital.
A driver along with a co-passenger travelling on a Maruti Car from Mawkyrwat to Jakrem sustained injuries, when the vehicle was hit by a truck on the driver while it was making space for the truck to pass by. The 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based in Mawkyrwat helped in shifting Kynsai Jyrwa (23years/male) and Gilberson Ramsiej (19years/male) to Mawkyrwat CHC. The incident happened at Jashiar under Mawkyrwat Block, South West Khasi Hills.
While one truck was pulling another truck, the rope connecting the two vehicles came off resulting in a collision with a motorbike which was following from behind. The pillion rider sustained injuries during the accident which happened at Lyngkien under Mawphlang Bock, East Khasi Hills.
To avoid a collision with a truck coming from the opposite direction, an auto rickshaw went off towards the side of the road and hit a wall. The incident happened at Mawlai Iewrynghep, Shillong . The 108 Service Ambulance based in Shillong helped in shifting the father Govandar Syiem (37years/male) and his son Darrel Nongkynrih (7 years/male) to Shillong Civil Hospital.
As it was driving up a steep slope, a Mahindra pick-up developed some technical snag resulting in the vehicle to roll down the slope and overturned. The incident took place at Aigre Songgitcham under Dadenggre Block, West Garo Hills . The 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based in Dadenggre helped in shifting the co-passenger Tonsing Sangma (45years/male) and Relbi Marak (35 years/male) to Dadenggre CHC. (SP News)
