Shillong, March 24, 2014: The District Election Officer and Returning Officer of 1-Shillong Parliamentary Constituency in compliance with the instructions of the Election Commission of India has directed that no cable operator of TV channel shall telecast any advertisement, which does not conform to the law of the country and which offence the morality, decency and susceptibility of view or which is shocking, disgusting and revolting. Moreover, no advertisement shall be permitted which derides any race, caste, colour, creed and nationality and is against any provision of the Constitution of India and intends to incite the people to crime, cause disorder or violence or breach of law or glorifies violence or obscenity anyway.
He further informed that any audio-visual displays of political advertisements, campaign material in public place should require certification under the existing orders of the Election Commission of India to be done by the District Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee. This order comes into force with immediate effect.(SP News)
