Shillong, May 03: It’s never too late to start, they say. So, when one takes the initiative to clean up the environment, especially on ocassions like the obseervation of the World Water Day, which was held today at Umshing, it shows that people still care about the environment.
Organized by the Presbyterian Youth Association for Integrated Development (PYAID) Mawlai Phudmuri, along with the Jingiaseng Samla Balang Presbyterian Phudmuri, the venue of the inauguration of the cleaning drive was held at Umshing with Lum Mawpat as backdrop.
Speaking on the ocassion as chief guest, Meghalay Chief Secretary Barkos Warjri stressed on the importance of maintaining the catchment areas around Shillong so that we can have drinking water.
Present in the ocassion were also North Easter Hill University Vice Chancellor P Shukla,PYAID President MS Kharbangar, Mawlai Town Dorbar Vice President Kynsai Manik Lyngdoh, PYAID Secretary L Shabong, and Larry P Warjri, along with members of Mawlai Sports Club, Seng Samla, and the schools sithuated in the area.(SP News)
