Shillong, Nov 09: If wine is passion, Shillong is a goblet. Wine-makers in this capital of Meghala
ya are raising toast and cheer amidst universal romance in the “Shillong Wine Festival”.
The ‘Shillong Wine Festival,’ organised by the Forever Young Club in this hill city was more than just a festival – it’s an universal romance. An all-pervading passion came at Crinoline Swimming Pool here as Shillong Wine Festival, a unique event held.
The annual wine festival is based exclusively on local horticulture products- Passion fruits, Bananas, Pears, Plums, Pine Apple, Strawberries, Gooseberries and Ginger.
Wine connoisseurs from several parts of the country thronged Swimming Pool near the Crinoline Waterfalls here, today and sampled various home-made wines.
Forever Young Club president Michal Syiem said that the state has tremendous potentialities but State Government needs to legalise it to make the wine sector of the state booming.
He said the festival is a boost since wine industry is also part of the economy of the state.
A tourist Bandana who visited the festival said “Wanna have a taste of authentic home-brewed wine? Come to Shillong, we all are enjoying here.”
The festival itself aptly describes the all-pervading passion at the Shillong Wine Festival, a unique event held in the pine city.
Come winter and Shillong once again is here with wine festival. Thrilling and exhilarating, with an array of locally made wine at the backdrop of live musical soiree, highly celebrated wine festival of Shillong, witness wine connoisseurs and people with a nose of wine throng Crinoline Swimming Pool to pick the best wine during the Shillong wine festival.
“It’s awe-inspiring. I have never got a chance to sip varieties of home-made wine like this,” said Andrew who is here in the town for a week.
The Shillong wine festival is an exhibition of finest quality of wines locally brewed that offers a rare chance to taste all the vines on display and carry home the best for special occasion with family and friends.
“A fine Saturday afternoon, with the idyllic Crinoline Falls set relaxingly behind and a relaxing glass of wine brought cheers to several people, what else we want,” said Joe Lyngdoh; a wine connoisseur said sipping from his glass.(SP News)
