Shillong, July 31: The Meghalaya police is over burden with all type of job that they have to perform, right from festival to controlling militancy in the state. At present there is a shortage of man power in the police department more than 2000 personal.
Sources close to the Home Department said that they have move to the government to fill up the gap so that the police ration in the state will matched with the requirement. The home department is awaiting the government approval.
With the creation of four new district in the state the man power is required more in order to have a better vigilance with the increasing crime in the state. The police fine it difficult to adjust the man power specially how to handle thus remote areas affected by militancy.
In tackling militancy in the state particularly in Garo Hills sector the present of the police personal is insufficient. It the need of the hours that the state government should increase the man power along with the modernization to be well equip with the present time.(SP News)
