Shillong, Oct 24th:The Messangers of Peace Initiative Programme headed by the State Coordinators Mr. Gary James and Mr. Panborlang Nongkynrih was held at the State headquarters, Bharat Scout and Guides, Meghalaya Shillong on the sidelines of the Regional Level Disaster Preparedness Course cum CD Programme from 19th to 23rd October, 2013.
The State Secretary, Mrs. A. Swer while delivering the welcome address inspired the participants to become the Messenger of Peace to bring about World peace and harmony. About 70 Scouts from different schools and colleges and non scouts converged together to get inputs about the concept and objectives of this global Peace Initiative despite the local bandh being imposed by the NGOs and militant outfit.
The programme kick started with a self introduction musical game followed by video presentations highlighting to the various prospects and concepts of the Initiative. Further, the method of registering to the global platform was being depicted and demonstrated. Games and songs of network building and idea sharing were displayed in an entertaining. Honorary scarves were presented to the non- scouts as a mark of gratitude for being a part of the integral programme.
Postcards were given to each participant to plan constructive projects which were scaled and returned to ensure they are being implemented. It may be mentioned that Messengers of Peace (MoP) ia Global Network which allows Scouts from all over the world to connect and showcase their Messengers of Peace projects and also share them on other media platforms.(SP News)
