Shillong, June 1: In a tough cut throat power packed performances of the Shillong Battle Rock 2013 an open beat contest for rock bands from across country to compete amongst themselves and showcase their talents, local band Mid Night Garden Factor (MGF) emerged as the winner.
From amongst six bands shortlisted for the grand finale all of them vying for the prize money of Rs 1 lakh, the band MGF tore the house down and managed to impress the judges and finally bagged the winning trophy. Besides winning the first prize the band, won several indivisual prizes comprises of Best Bassist, Best Keyboardist,Best drummer and Best guitarist.
However, the second prize was bagged by Dossiers Urge carrying a prize money of Rs 30, 000.
The six bands who made to the finals include Midnight Garden Factor, Dossiers Urge, Empirical Tribe, Aberrant, Deadnote, Avenger and Fore fields.
Organised by Shillong City Entertaintment Network Enterprise in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture the Shillong Battle Rock 2013 is the first edition of such contest.
It may also be mentioned here that the event was organised in aid of Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre.(SP News)
