Mitap- Gasuapara road in Garo Hills had started since the 1970 and is yet to be completed

 

Shillong, April 17: PWD Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar, has informed the house of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly on Wednesday during question hour that the construction of the Mitap- Gasuapara road in Garo Hills had started since the 1970 and the road is yet to be completed.

The reason for the non completion of the road was attributed to the missing gap of 3 km due to steep gradient.

Giving details about the road, PWD minister informed the house that the length of the road is 18 kilometres and that 1 to 10 kilometres falls under Baghmara Division national Highway 62 is a kacha road but motorable, while the three kilometres out of 11 to 18 kilometres under Bagmara PWD road needs new alignment to bridge the missing gap of 3 kilometres.

Member of the Opposition, Clifford Marak, legislator from Chokpot asked on the reason for the delay. The minister replied that a new detailed project report is required  and a new proposal is awaited for completion of the project.(SP News)
