Shillong, Nov 07: The VDP Rally was held today at Dorbar Hall, Nenggate- Pynursla where about 250 members of different VDPs including Sordars and rangbah Shnong of villages falling under Pynursla Police station were present.
The Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Shri M.Kharkrang,MPS, ShillongAppreciated villages of Pynursla as not a single case was reported during the pro ILP agitation where as in other places and Shillong City a total number of 82 cases were registered and 70 persons arrested.
He also spoke on the witchcraft superstitions and for which police had to takelegal action against village functionaries. He also spoke on rape especially of minors.The meeting was chaired by SI B.L. Wanswett, OIC Pynursla PS.
Others who spoke were Shri K.Khongdup, Rangbah Dong Nenggate, Shri M. Khongthaw, Rangbah Shnong Pynursla, Shri Peter Rynjah, Gen. Sectt. FORMLD, Shri K.Khongdup, Rangbah Dong Nenggate, Shri H.Khongngai, Sordar Raid Shabong, Shri K.Tangsong, Sordar Raid Lyngkhat, Shri I.O.Swer ,MPS SDPO, Sohra. They all emphasized that there is a need for a good police public relationship to maintain law and order in the area Shri I.O Swer,MPS, SDPO, Sohra explained the VDPs of their role and their relationship with the police. He also highlighted the various sections of IPC and Cr.P.C which the VDPs should know.(SP News)
