Shillong, July 21: The response to the Army Recruiting rally on the second day was encouraging and approximately 1,000 candidates reported for recruitment rally. More than 3500 candidates from Meghalaya State have reported for the rally over the last two days. The response has been overwhelming.
Medical examinations and documentation for those candidates who have been successfully screened is underway and officials of the district administration are witnessing the entire recruitment process. The common entrance examination for selected candidates from Meghalaya will be held at the Army Public School, Shillong on July 28.
To ensure transparency and professionalism, the screening team and medical team has been detailed from other Army Recruiting Offices from North East. The recruitment is being conducted in categories of Soldier (General Duty), Soldier Technical, Soldier Nursing Assistant, Soldier Clerk / Store Keeper Technical, Soldier Tradesman categories, and re-enrolment of Ex-Servicemen into the Defence Service Corps (DSC).
The candidates attending the recruitment rally here are initially being put through physical fitness tests in which they are made to run one point six kms, do pull-ups, jump across a nine feet ditch and walk across a zig-zag balance. They are then physically examined for height, weight and chest and finally medically examined.(SP News)
