Shillong, April 1: The first phase of dissimination of the Megha Health Insurance Scheme was conducted on Monday.
More than five hundred people residing in Pynthorumkhrah and its adjoining areas qued at the pynthorumkhrah golflink commiunity hall today to registered their names for acquiring the megha health insurance scheme including the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) literally “National Health Insurance Programme and Universal Health Insurance Scheme (UHIS).
Speaking to reporters Health Minister AL hek informed that the scheme which has been launched last year in the month of December is an insurance scheme for all the people residing in the state of Meghalaya.
“This scheme aims at supporting those people especially those coming from lower backgrounds to get immediate attenion in terms of medical assistance”, Hek said.
While informing that the scheme will be dissiminated to all the people of the state, Hek said, “The dissimination of the RSBY and UHIS at Pynthorumkhrah has been carried out through its first phase” adding that this will continue and will try to reach out to different places in the state.
The scheme named Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) would give medical relief of Rs 90,000 annually to a family of five and Rs 1.6 lakh in case of critical illness.(SP News)
