Shillong, March 08: The pro-term speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Mr Rowell Lyngdoh after scrutinizing the nomination papers of the two candidate’s Mr AT Mandal of the Congress and Ardent Basaiawmoit of the HSPDP found that the papers submitted by Basaiawmoit is not in order.
Speaking to SP News Agency the pro-term speaker said that since the papers of Mr Ardent Basaiawmoit are not in order he has to reject his nomination for the election to the speaker post schedule for 11 of this month.
With the rejection of the nomination paper of Mr Basaiawmoit, the congresss nominee Mr AT Mandal become the speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly un opposed.
Speaking to reporters after filling his nomination Mr Mandal Said that he will always maintain his neutrality as the speaker in the floor of the house and that is his first priority. He also told that this is the decision of the party to file him for the speaker post and he has accepted it with joy.
Mr Ardent Basaiawmoit while talking to reporters in the Assembly premises after his filling his nomination said that he is well aware that he will not win the election but he want to sent a straight singal to the Congress party that Meghalaya is a tribal state and the speaker should be from among the tribal.(SP News)
