Shillong, April 09: The former MLA of Mawkyrwat Constituency Mr B Bires Nongsiej passed away at his residence at Mawkyrwat In South West Khasi Hills District after a brief illness he was 61 years.
He was elected as an MLA from the area in the year 1988on HPU ticket,1988 from the UDP and 2003 from the same party but he was defeated in 2008.and in his political carriers he has been a cabinet minister in the ministry of former chief Minister Late B B Lyngdoh as a minister he has been entrusted with many important portfolios like primary Education and Supply ETC.
