Mr Vikash who suffered 60% burn injury and has been shifted to Guwahati

Shillong, Oct 9: While most people in Shillong, especially Hindus are gearing up to celebrate the festive season of Durga Puja miscreants in the city are hell-bent to take advantage of the situation by way of arson and not sparing fellow human beings.

In a broad daylight attack, this afternoon at around 12:20 PM, one 34 year old Vikash Nandwal , son of  Jagjit Singh Nandwal, owner of Meghalaya Machineries shop at Mothpran was mercilessly set aflame by a miscreant who entered the shop with the sole intention to cause harm.

Police said the miscreant entered the Meghalaya Machineries shop and poured petrol over Nandwal before setting him on fire.

According to sources, the victim is suffering a 60% burn injury and has been shifted to Guwahati from Nazareth hospital.

In another arson attack miscreants entered the NEHU campus this afternoon and set on fire a bore-well drilling rig which was parked inside NEHU gardener quarter.

Fortunately not much damage was caused due to quick reaction of the residents who rushed to douse the fire.(SP News)
