Shillong, March 21: Khasi film producer VC Wahlang from the VC Film Production expressed his un-satisfaction with the dissemination of film awards during the recent concluded Khasi film award which was held in the city.
Expressing discontentment on the kind of films selected to present the award, Wahlang said that a grave mistake has been committed by the Khasi film award and its organising committee .
Addresing a press conference here on Thursday Wahlang said, “So much of injustice is there in the selection process”.
Angered and disappointed that most of the Khasi films that runs for months and months altogether was award nothing but instead awards were being given to some of the films which runs only for few weeks Wahlang said the whole system of selection is wrong.
“The juries was inexperienced in the field,” adding that they cannot even select good movies to get the award.
Alleging that there is a foul play in the selection process, Wahlang said that the film which gets most of the award is a film made by some of the members of the organizing committee.
While pointing out that his film Bainong which is a film that runs for three months in cinema gets just one award and that is for lighting award, Wahlang said, “It is unjust for my film to get only one award” adding that the audience himself has given the certificate as it is the films runs for months and months altogether. Even as demanded the organising committee of the khasi film award to take awards given to them stating that it is just an insulting award.
Wahlang while questioning the Khasi Film award and its organising committee asked as to what grounds that a film that runs for a couple of weeks in the cinema such as the film ‘Aiti’ which runs only for three weeks besides other film can acquire most of the awards whereas those films that runs for five to six months gets nothing which shows that there is so much of injustice being done to deserving films.
Meanwhile, Wahlang while expressing his disappointment on the decision taken by the juries also came up with a strong comment that he is will not keep the insulting award given for his film but asked the members of the Khasi Film award to take away the award given for his film.(SP News)
