SHillong, May 06: The Controller General of Defence Accounts Ms Vandana Srivastava IDAS today inaugurated the new office building of Pay Accounts Office (Other Ranks) Assam Regimental Centre Shillong, {PAO (Ors) ARC}. She was on a three day visit to Guwahati and Shillong.
The office was established in 1942 then known as office of the Deputy Financial Controller of Military Accounts (Other Ranks) along with Assam Regimental Centre (ARC). The office was located in Dozen Line, near MH Shillong and was shifted to Happy Valley and within the campus of ARC in the year 1943. The office was rechristened as PAO (ORs) ARC Shillong in the year 1952. This office is headed by an Asst CDA. The PAO office is responsible for maintenance of Pay and Accounts of JCOs and ORs of 13 Regular Units of Assam Regiment, 3 RRs, ERE and NCC Units and 5 Territorial Army Units. It has a staff of 45 people and handles the accounts of more than 21,000 PBORs.
Ms Vandana Srivastava is a 1978 IDAS Cadre batch officer has been CGDA since July 2013. Speaking on the occasion she said ‘I am not a Staunch follower of Vastu or Fengshui, however, I believe that our state of mind depends on the estate we live in. Therefore, we have to have a fairly good office building at a right location to enable employees to perform better. Keeping this in mind, the DAD has been making constant efforts since 1977-78 to construct its own accommodations both residential and officials. She further said ‘I am happy to see even in Shillong that all major projects have been completed” the present PAO (ORs) ARC Office accommodation being the latest and one of the best.
Proposal for construction of office accommodation for the PAO (ORs) ARC Shillong on A-1 Defence Land was initiated by CDA Guwahati in the year 2008. The contract was concluded by HQ Chief Engineer Shillong zone. The work finally completed on 20 Nov 2013. The work has been done under Brig PK Jaiswal, CESZ and his team of officers. With the opening of this new office of PAO (ORs) ARC to excel in their performance and provide satisfactory services to the PBORS of Assam Regiment.
The CGDA expressed her appreciation for Brigadier Jaiswal and his team for their laudable job for construction of the buildings. She also congratulated the officers and staff of the PAO on heaving good new office building and residential accommodation. She cautioned them about the proper utilization of these buildings and maintenance, and said now onwards, she looked forward to better performance, greater customers satisfaction and better records management. This was stated by Defence PRO Group Captain Amit Mahajan in a press release.
Several senior Army and DAD officers were present on the occasion. Jt CGDA Shri AN Das, Maj Gen L Padmanabhan COS 101 Area, Planning Adviser NEC Secretariat Shri J L Hungdim, IFA HQ EAC Shillong Shri TK Hangzo, Brigadier Thomas Commandant 58 GTC and CDA Guwahati Shri Pramod Kumar were amongst the guests who attended the event.(SP News)
