Shillong, Jan 07: The Hon’ble governor of Meghalaya Dr K K Paul inaugurated today the five days North East national Services Scheme organized by the ministry of sport and Yotuh Affair Government of India with the directorate higher and Technical Education (NSS Cell),Meghalaya at Soso Tham Auditorium,Shillong.
The Festival was attended by Government Officials and students of North East India. In his inaugural address,Dr.Paul considered it an honour for the state to hosf such a festival which is hoped to foster mutual relationship,undersmdiing ,promote communal harmony and sustainable development .
He said that youth played a major role in the development of a country in terms of demographic dividends-He underlined the need of Investment for the youth in various aspects so as not to lead them astray. He said that NSS has played a significant role in the development of personality, communal harmony and in fostering relationship and social networking. He said that communication is the need of the hour and is of
Utmost important.
He therefore underlined the need of involvement of outh in order to create
awareness and to develop a sense of civic responsibility in the community. He urged upon develop an atmosphere of homogeneity, harmony and mutual understanding for the growth and prosperity of the region. He then wished the festival a success and released the North East NSS Festival Souvenir.
Lighting of the ceremonial lamp and NSS song were the order of the day.
Prof.RC.Laloo,Hon’ble Dy,Chief Minister of Education etc, Government of Meghalaya and Shii S. Basumatri and Youth Offieer,NSS,North East Region,Guwahati also spoke on the occasion. (SP News)
